RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A CITY CHARTER CHANGE
COMMITTEE (REQUESTED BY MAYOR PRINCE)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Arthur has
determined that it is necessary to correct and amend the Charter of
the City of Port Arthur; and
WHEREAS, it will be necessary to make a thorough study of said
Charter to determine all needed changes and revisions necessary to
bring the City' s Charter up to date in all respects to the end that
it will serve the citizens of Port Arthur in a more practical and
realistic manner and in accordance with State law, thereby creating
a necessity for the appointment of a City Charter Change Committee.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1 . That the facts and opinions in the preamble are
true and correct .
Section 2 . That the City Council hereby authorizes the
establishment of a City Charter Change Committee .
Section 3 . That the purpose and duties of the Committee
shall be as follows :

1 . To study and report to the City Council any changes to
be made to the Charter of the City of Port Arthur that
it may deem advisable .
2 . To submit the Committee' s findings and recommendations to
the City Council for further study.
3 . To assist in framing such amendments, as are approved by
the City Council, to be placed on a charter change
election.
4 . To assist in promoting and enlightening the citizens of
Port Arthur as to what the amendments to the Charter will
mean to them as citizens of Port Arthur.
Section 4 . That said Committee Members will be appointed
by a separate resolution.
Section 5 . That a copy of the caption of this Resolution
shall be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council .
READ, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED, this day of
2015 AD, at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Port Arthur, Texas by the following vote : AYES :
