RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONGRESSMAN
LAMPSON'S ASSISTANCE AS IT PERTAI2qS TO
NATIONAL OCEANIC ATMOSPHERIC
ADMINISTRATION AND THEIR SALE AND
DEVELOPMENT OF PROPERTY IN PORT ARTHUR
(REQUESTED BY MAYOR)
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Manager have been encouraging the National
Oceanic Atmospheric Administration to develop or sell their property in the City at a
reasonable price as to encourage the placement of these vacant properties, especially in the
Stonegate area, on the tax rolls as'to revitalize the City; and
WHEREAS, the City is frustrated by the inability of the National Oceanic
Atmospheric Administration to either promptly develop or sell the property; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the best interest of the City to request the
assistance of Congressman Lampson in discovering the reasons why the National Oceanic
Atmospheric Administration has not sold or developed their vacant land in the City of Port
Arthur; and
WHEREAS, the City Council would also request that the National Oceanic
Atmospheric Administration be encouraged to prepare a realistic plan to either sell or develop
its vacant property in the City of Port Arthur as soon as possible.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.

Section 2. That the Mayor and City Manager are herein authorized to send a letter
requesting Congressman Lampson to assist the City in discovering the reasons why the
National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration has not sold or developed their vacant land in
the City of Port Arthur.
.Section 3. That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be sent by the City Secretary
to Senator Hutchinson, Senator Gramm, and Congressman Lampson.
Section 4. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the
Minutes of the City Council.
