Report on Ambulances and Alternatives to the Permit Fee
Council Meeting January 22, 2002
Councilmembers Bowers, Allen and Henderson asked for a report
on the ambulances and alternatives to the $50,000 permit fee. This office has
discussed the following alternatives with the ambulance companies:
(1)
The Company agrees to provide the City the use of up to 5
of its ambulances for six (6) months in case the company
ceases to provide ambulance service in the City;
(2) The Company agrees to provide a back-up dispatch system
in the City; and
(3) The Company agrees to collect first responder costs for the
City's Fire Department.
The next payment for thc ambulance fees is due on February 15,
2002. Goldstar and MetroCare would like you to consider one or more of
these alternatives prior to that date.
