RECOMMENDATION:
We recommend that the City Council reject the bids for the Training Officer Car for the Fire
Department.
BACKGROUND:
On October 7, 2002 the City received one bid from Philpott Ford for a Battalion Chief Training Officer
Vehicle for $ 24,913. The Training Officer Car Bid Specifications required a Police Package (heavy duty
transmission and suspension). The City feels that this amount is too much for the functions of this
vehicle. The Fire Department will change the specifications to a Ford Crown Victoria type staffcar,
which will achieve a cost savings. Sealed bids with the new specifications will be completed as soon as
possible so that the vehicle can be purchased promptly.
