A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF
THE FIRE CHIEF OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR
WHEREAS, the City Manager has appointed Stephen L. Curran as Fire Chief; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 143.013 of the Local Government Code, the appointment
is subject to confirmation from the City Council.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are tree and correct.
Section 2. That the City Council confirms the appointment of Stephen L. Curran as the
Fire Chief of the City of Port Arthur.
Section 3. That this Resolution is effective immediately.
Section 4. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of
the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED on this day of , A.D., 2002, at
a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote:

I will be asking City Council at the March 5"' Council meeting to
confirm Acting Fire Ghief Stephen L. Curran as permanent Fire Chief.
Chief Curt'an has served as Acting Fire Chief since July 21, 2001 when
Fire Chief Clifford P. BaH)ay retired. Prior to sen~ing as Acting Fire
Chief, Chief Curran served as Deputy Fire Chief since 1995 and Chief
C,~,van has worked for the Fire Depa, b,,ent for twenty-six years. Chief
Curran is a 1971 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a
graduate of Lamar Institute of Technology with an Associate in Fire
Protection Technology. Chief Curran, his wife Susan and two children,
Justin and Kara, live in the City of Port Arthur.
