R. No. 19211 authorizing the City Manager to execute the Contract Amendment not to exceed amount of$8,790.81 to the contract with Ergonomics Tranportation Solutions, Inc. of Houston, Texas to provide engineering design services for a traffic signal at 9thAvenue and Lake Arthur Drive due to Police Department's request. BACKGROUND Per Resolution 13-531 the City of Port Arthur entered into a contract with Ergonomic Transportation Solutions, Inc. to provide engineering design services for a traffic signal at 9th Avenue and Lake Arthur Drive for a not to exceed amount of$39,638.72 due to the Police Department's request from December 9, 2013 to March 9, 2014. Per Resolution 14-126, the City of Port Arthur authorized a contract extension for professional services for a traffic signal at 9th Avenue and Lake Arthur Drive from March 10, 2014 to June 8, 2015. Per Resolution 15-223 the City of Port Arthur approved a second contract extension from June 9, 2015 to June 8, 2016 for continued engineering design services for this project. This proposed resolution is for an approval of a contract amendment due to alternative bid items and design modifications for$8,790.81. BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT Funds are available in the Electrical Professional Account No. 001-1202-531.54-00. SUMMARY I recommend that the City Council approve P. R. No. 19211 authorizing the City Manager to execute the Contract Amendment in the amount of $8,790.81 to the contract with Ergonomics Transportation Solutions, Inc. of Houston, Texas to provide engineering design services for a traffic signal at 9tn Avenue and Lake Arthur Drive due to Police Department's request. OF HOUSTON, TEXAS TO PROVIDE THE ENGINEERING DESIGN FOR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT 9TH AVENUE AND LAKE ARTHUR DRIVE INCREASING THE CONTRACT BY $8,790.81, TO A NEW AMOUNT TOTAL OF $48,429.53. FUNDING AVAILABLE IN PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ACCOUNT 001-1202- 531.54-00. ETSI will update the signal design to replace the previous Span Wire mounted signal with a Mast Arm mounted one. The updated design will also include Ornamental Poles, instead of the TxDOT standard poles, as well as Microwave detection equipment where feasible, instead of cut loops. ETSI will produce the necessary plans, specifications and quantity estimates (ready bid documents) for the complete installation of a traffic signal and related signs and pavement markings. The signal design will be conducted in accordance with the with City of Port Arthur and TxDOT requirements. Attached, is the proposed additional budget breakdown. ETSI will submit the 95% complete plans within four weeks of the notice to proceed. Upon receiving comments from the City of Port Arthur, ETSI will produce the final PS&E package within one week.
