Candidates are unopposed for the election to the offices of Councilmember District 2 and Councilmember Position 7 which will cancel the election for those positions. A Certificate of Unopposed Status of the incumbent candidates was received from the Sabine Pass Port Authority which will automatically cancel them from the joint election. P.O. No. 5252 ORDINANCE NO. 03/25/02 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELECTION ORDER FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION OF MAY 4, 2002 AND DECLARING UNOPPOSED CANDIDATES ELECTED FOR DISTRICT 2 AND FOR POSITION 7, AND DELETING THE SABINE PASS PORT AUTHORITY AS A PARTICIPANT IN THE JOINT ELECTION WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No.' 02-10, the City for the purpose 2, 3, 4 and delineated in ordered the May 4, 2002 general election of electing councilmembers from Districts 1, Positions 7 and 8 with the Election Order as in Exhibit "A" with the polling places as delineated Exhibit nB"; and WHEREAS; there is only one candidate for District Felix A. Chaisson attached as Exhibit ~C"; WHEREAS, no write-in for these positions; and WHEREAS, the City Council will declare the unopposed candidates elected and will cancel the election for those positions pursuant to Section 2.052 and 2.053 Texas Election Code.~ Barker and for Position 7 - Rose Mitchell as denoted in the City Secretary's Certification and candidates have been declared zpo5252 WHEREAS, the candidates for the Sabine Pass Port Authority are unopposed (Exhibit ~D") and will not be included in the joint election; and WHEREAS, the City will therefore hold a joint election with the Port Arthur Independent School District and the Sabine Pass Independent School District. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That preamble are true and Section 2.
